ESCOS Green Awareness

Any person who repairs or services a motor vehicle air conditioning (MVAC) system for consideration (payment or bartering) must be properly trained and certified under section 609 of the Clean Air Act by an EPA-approved program.

EPA regulations (40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F) under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act require that technicians who maintain, service, repair, or dispose of equipment that could release refrigerants into the atmosphere must be certified.

The AC&R Safety Coalition exam validates that a person possess the knowledge to safely work with this refrigerant and helps reduce liability.

This covers Energy Management and Analysis, Building Science, HVACR, Electrical, and Plumbing. When it comes to mechanicals, (HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical) “Green” means fuel and energy efficiency, renewable and sustainable fuel sources, and water conservation.
